Once upon a time, seven years ago, young Willy found himself in the most unfortunate circumstances – awaiting certain demise in a butchers yard. But as fate would have it, our animal sanctuary, Fields of Freedom, came to the rescue, becoming his ultimate saving grace!

Within days of his rescue, I ensured that Willy underwent a life-changing procedure: castration. This not only saved his life but also freed him from the anxiety and stress he had endured in his past.

Months passed, and Willy’s physical and emotional healing continued at our sanctuary. Gradually, he was introduced to some remarkable companions – a herd of other rescue donkeys. And one among them captured his heart completely – Sapphire, a nine-year-old mini Jenny

Willy and Sapphire blossomed into an extraordinary friendship, treading the fields of freedom together, sharing adventures, and forging an unbreakable bond. Their daily companionship is a reminder of the extraordinary capacity of animals to find solace and love amidst adversity.

Witnessing Willy’s journey from the brink of despair to a life filled with love, warmth, and tranquility has been truly humbling. His resilience and ability to forgive and trust again serves as a beacon of hope for us all.
