We are filled with both truimph and sorrow as we share the incredible journey of our dear Eloise, the brave donkey who has become an emblem of resilience and hope.

Just over a year ago, Eloise walked through the gates of our sanctuary, carrying the weight of her painful past on her tired and weary body. Her story is one that serves as a reminder of the unimaginable cruelties animals face at the hands of some humans.

Eloise, a beautiful soul, endured a life of cruelty as she was forced to participate in donkey races by her heartless former owners. They kept her on a tight rope, cutting into her face daily, with no regard for her well-being or happiness. This constant confinement, along with the lack of foot care and proper stabling, caused severe ligament damage to her fragile legs.

In their cruellest act yet, her ex-owners sent her to slaughter at just ten years of age. It was a fate too cruel for any living being.

But, against all odds, Eloise’s story took a miraculous turn when she found her way to our sanctuary. Here, surrounded by love, compassion, and dedicated caregivers, Eloise started her journey to healing—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Every day, we witnessed Eloise’s strength and determination to overcome her painful past. With proper care, her legs have started to heal, and her spirit has begun to soar once again. She has become an inspiration to all who cross her path, reminding us that there is always hope for a brighter future.

As we celebrate Eloise’s triumph over adversity, let us also remember the countless other animals who endure similar ordeals every day. Together, we can raise awareness, fight for their rights, and provide a safe haven for those in desperate need.
