Meet Aslan, a remarkable black beauty donkey who defied all odds to find a life of freedom and love. Rescued from a bleak existence in southern Denmark, he spent his early months confined to a dark, cramped barn with no access to sunlight or the great outdoors. In this heart-wrenching place, the breeder had kept numerous animals, chaining them up and subjecting them to a life of confinement. But Aslan’s spirit could not be dampened. Despite the challenges, he remained resilient and full of hope.

When he arrived at Fields of Freedom Animal Sanctuary, a new chapter began for Aslan. With each passing day, he blossomed into a confident and strong-willed donkey. From the timid creature we first met, he emerged as a charismatic leader, always at the forefront of the herd as they ventured out to the lush fields for grazing.
